Back to the Future

The last few months have been a time of re-enforcing, re-thinking and re-evaluation. Businesses are realising the importance of their brand more than ever and are starting to put more energy into marketing. More business are looking for one agency that can fulfil all of their needs, and we make it easy for our clients by offering solutions in advertising, identity, digital and environmental design. It’s times like these that make what we do even more important and our enthusiasm levels remain sky-high as new work pours into the studio from clients including Qantas and the State Library of NSW, and not forgetting a huge variety of work coming in from our Dubai office. With the influx of new projects and new media challenges, our eyes are set firmly on the future.

Trio Living Collection

We were one of five design companies asked to design the interior of a unique display-flat for Trio in Camperdown, Sydney, as part of our ongoing relationship with Frasers. The space is witty and welcoming with local one-off pieces and customised art that create a sense of community and inspiration. Designing custom interiors is a natural evolution for Frost, and the team had great fun bringing type and ideas to life creating new homewares products such as typographical cushions, limited edition prints, beach towels, plates and table runners to name a few. These products will soon be available for sale through the Frost studio, so watch this space.

Visit the Frost flat at 502/30 Pyrmont Bridge Rd Camperdown.

SOYA Campaign 09

In its sixth year the Qantas Spirit of Youth Awards (SOYA ) continues to reward emerging talent with mentorships from leaders in the creative industry, including Vince Frost in the field of visual communications. For the second year running Frost were asked to design the campaign components including the website and motion graphics. In keeping with the current climate, the tone of this year’s campaign was positively frugal – a powerful contrast to last year’s polished finish. The campaign concept ‘Reveal your true colours’ bursts with positivity and is a beacon of light offering incredible opportunities for young Australians.

Ancient Light Publication

Astronomical photographer David Malin has captured the unseen universe in his photographic collection of galaxies, nebulae and star clusters. UK publishing house Phaidon asked Frost to design Malin’s latest book “Ancient Light. A Portrait of the Universe”. The book’s release coincides with the International Year of Astronomy. Frost designed a striking front cover using laser cut star shapes to create the illusion of a night sky. As in all photographic publications, the images need space and respect to be fully appreciated. The design elements throughout the book are classic and complimentary, providing a foundation for the photographs to shine.

Dungog Film Festival

Dungog is known for two things – dairy cows and the largest, non-competitive Australian film festival in the world. Dedicated to showcasing only Australian-made films, Dungog asked Frost to create an identity and the collateral for the 2009 celebrations that would encapsulate their objective of providing a place to immerse yourself in Australian film. Art directed by Frost, illustrators “We buy your kids” created artwork inspired by vintage movie posters. Frost then created the festival campaign, designing posters, t-shirts, programs, website and more. The whole town was awash with Frost designed collateral.

Northern Territory Investment Campaign

The latest Northern Territory campaign recently hit the streets in time to capitalise on the momentum of the Federal Budget and the roll-out of stimulus packages. The ‘InvestmeNT’ campaign turned negative headlines on their head, tearing away negative news to reveal an opportunity to invest in something important – spending quality time with family and friends in the Northern Territory. The innovative use of digital disruption relays the same effect across major news sites online. The campaign also appeared in major newspapers and on over 380 JC Deceaux sites in Sydney and Melbourne.

Collins Vergnaud Architectural Design

With a desire to increase the presence of their personalised service, Collins Vergnaud Architectural Design (CVAD) approached Frost to design their identity and marketing. Frost developed an arrow-like logo that uses the initials of the company name to reflect their design approach in which they study each individual project’s needs from multiple angles. The new identity was extended to a versatile marketing brochure that uses photographic portraits of the principals to reinforce their personal approach, and a series of interchangeable postcards to showcase their work.

City of Sydney Park Signage

To unify the parks of Sydney, Frost were commissioned to develop a comprehensive new signage system. With a user-friendly focus, Frost created distinctive and functional signage that identifies each park and its regulations. It provides local interpretative information with images that have a minimal affect of the natural surroundings. The signage can include simple maps to clearly identify bike paths and dog friendly areas. The modular approach gives the system flexibility to expand or contract depending on how much information needs to be displayed.
