Coast restaurants redesign - 971 - © Frost Design
Project: Coast Restaurant Design, Sydney
Client: Nautilus Group
The commission to redesign Coast, one of Cockle Bay Wharf’s most popular restaurants, came as a direct result of Frost’s work at Manta – both restaurants are owned by Tim Connell. The project involved working closely with the architects, Hassell, on the interior. Vince Frost along with Anthony Donovan and Bridget Atkinson, came up with the idea of creating an actual coastline suspended from the ceiling. This dramatic overhead installation of Sydney’s coastline stretches the length of the restaurant and was constructed from translucent yellow acrylic, down-lit with LED lights to create a stunning lightscape. Elsewhere, a giant, 30-metre image of Clovelly Beach, by photographer Stephen Ward, dresses the entire back wall. In addition to this new identity including wine bottles, menus, uniforms, signage, advertising, invitations and stationery were also designed.
